--------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------
Screen Resolution: possibly 800x480? (somewhat speculative)
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: EvilDragon
Quote: Oh, 800x480 isn't that bad for emulation.

Source: CraigIX
Quote: If some of you have gone back though my posts over the last few weeks or months even I have dropped a few hints about walls we may have hit with certain areas. One of them is a 640*480 screen. It is not possible to use such a screen due to Sony having some kind of agreement with sharp.

--------------------------------------------------------
Software Installation: one-click installer available
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: There will indeed be a one click install system (if you want to use it).

--------------------------------------------------------
Price: Not too much more than GP2X
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: We are trying to keep the price low, not too much more than the GP2X but offering a hell of a lot more for your money.

--------------------------------------------------------
System Memory: 128 megabytes RAM
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: The RAM will be 128MB. I think this is the maximum we can use without complications.

--------------------------------------------------------
Copyright Status: Open source

--------------------------------------------------------
Joystick: Something like a D-pad
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: mfk
Quote: D-Pad is a patented design. But it will be a similar design.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...044&st=195#

Source: CraigIX
Quote: We can't use an exact dpad but we can get pretty close to one, it will be digital and should work very well (better than the PSP one for example).

--------------------------------------------------------
OS: Linux
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: Yes we have some software from the GP2X running and yes the system will still run Linux.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...044&st=300#

--------------------------------------------------------
Processor: Probably not MMSP2+
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: The funny thing about the MMSP2+ is that it is a totally new bit of kit, it isn't really related to the MMSP2 at all. You could not just put it inside the gp2x and it would work, everything would have to be redesigned from the ground up.

--------------------------------------------------------
Graphics: 2D & 3D acceleration
--------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------
Volume Control: Hardwired wheel

Quote: "Also, please make a hardwired volume wheel, don't rely on everyone implementing software volume control in their devices!" ... "Yes. It's there already."

--------------------------------------------------------
Power: Li-ion pack
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: For power, yes, any new system would have to be li-ion based, AAs just can't give the needed power anymore.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...8044&st=45#

Source: CraigIX
Quote: We will use an off the shelf battery which will be cheap and not some custom only for profit thing.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...8044&st=75#

--------------------------------------------------------
Storage: SD
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: mfk
Quote: We don't have a plan to change the storage to miniSD or microSD. We simply don't need it. It would be nonsense to have the same capacity and speed with higher price. However if you already have a miniSD or microSD you can use it with SD card adaptor. cool.gif

--------------------------------------------------------
Architecture: Dual-core CPU
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: mfk
Quote: Why is people asking for single core CPU? There are many advantages of using dual core.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...mp;st=405&#

--------------------------------------------------------
Speed: Less than 2Ghz
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: EvilDragon
Quote: It won't be a wondermachine with 2GHz and a 30hours lasting batteries.
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...044&st=375#

--------------------------------------------------------
TV-out: Possibly included in hardware
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: EvilDragon
Quote: TV Out is nice, but why do you need an extra adapter for it?

--------------------------------------------------------
Performance: Unoptimized SNES emu runs faster than GP2X's optimized SNES emus
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: EvilDragon
Quote: Well... faster SNES emulation than the most optimized gp2x-Version without optimizing it or using any of the hardware acceleration features isn't impressive?

Source: Squidge
Quote: Once Linux is ported properly (ie, uses the hardware properly instead of "just enough to get Linux going"), and the emulator is written for the hardware rather than hacked together, I'd easily expect it to run two copies of the emulator at once with no slow down.

--------------------------------------------------------
Battery Life: Less than 10 hours, more than 3
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: Err apart from the fact one is a handheld (10 hours bat) and the other is a laptop (2-3 hours bat)?
Link: http://www.gp32x.com/board/index.php?showt...044&st=165#

Source: mfk
Quote: Frankly speaking; 10 hours of battery life is a dream at the moment. I think we should kill this rumor too.

--------------------------------------------------------
Release Date: Sometime after December 2007
--------------------------------------------------------
Source: CraigIX
Quote: December isn't a deadline, it is just a nice goal we have, as I've said we won't release until it is ready and working exactly as we want it.
